Standing Room Only For Presidential Candidate Rudy Giuliani Visit

FORT MYERS, FL (January 15, 2008) - It was standing room only when Republican Presidential Candidate Rudy Giuliani stopped by Shell Point Retirement Community in Fort Myers, Florida on Monday, January 14, at approximately noon to host a Town Hall Community Forum.  More than 1,100 people attended this event which was held at the Village Church at Shell Point Retirement Community.

Mayor Giuliani spoke for approximately 20 minutes and then discussed his "12 Commitments to the American People," which outlines his goals for the future should he become president.  Following his speech, he quickly moved into an extended question and answer session with the audience and fielded questions on a variety of issues including cutting taxes, availability of health care, illegal immigration, and the price of gasoline.

The crowd of mostly seniors seemed supportive and Giuliani did not have to contend with any protestors or hecklers on this stop, as opposed to some of the other previous locations along his campaign trail.

Shell Point President Peter Dys welcomed the crowd and pointed out that the residents of the community consistently set above-average records for voter turnout in Lee County.<

Among the group of special guests seated onstage with Giuliani were Shell Point Retirement Community President Peter Dys; Florida Lieutenant Governor Jeff Kottkamp; Lee County Sheriff Mike Scott; and businessman Steve Forbes; who traveled the state this week with Giuliani and serves as Giuliani's national campaign co-chairman.
