5 Facebook groups where Midtown neighbors ask for recommendations
Every week, someone in these groups types "Does anyone know a good contractor?" The businesses that get those jobs are the ones posting in the groups. Most owners never get around to it. Here is your list, free, and exactly how to use it.
Your groups
Found with a Google search of Facebook groups. These are Roane County groups, where Midtown people post. Groups change: a few may be private (you ask to join) or may not allow business posts. Step 2 below tells you how to check.
- Roane County, TN - News & Announcements 11,800+ members (Harriman)
- Rockwood, Harriman and Kingston neighborhood watch 8,100+ members (Harriman)
- Rockwood, Westel, Harriman, Kingston, Crossville TN Happenings & Events 7,500+ members (Harriman)
- The Real Happening in Harriman 4,400+ members (Harriman)
- You Know You Are From Harriman, TN If... 2,700+ members (Harriman)
How to get customers from these groups, step by step
You can do all of this yourself, free. It takes about 20 minutes to start and a few minutes a week after that.
- Join 5 to 10 groups. Click a group name above. It opens on Facebook. Click the blue Join group button. If it asks questions, answer them honestly: say you live or work in Midtown and want to be a helpful neighbor. Some groups take a day or two to let you in.
- Read each group's rules before you post. On the group's page, click About. Scroll to Group rules. Look for words like "no advertising", "business posts on Saturday only", or "promote in the weekly thread". Breaking these gets you removed, so write down what each group allows.
- Post only where and when it's allowed. If a group allows business posts on one day, post that day. If it only allows them in a pinned "promo thread", post in that thread as a comment.
- Make the post helpful, not an ad. One good photo of a real job, two or three sentences about what you did and a tip a homeowner can use, then your name, town and phone number. No all-caps, no "BEST PRICES". Change the wording for each group; the same text pasted everywhere looks like spam.
- Answer when someone asks. When a neighbor posts "anyone know a good contractor?", reply quickly with a short, friendly note and your number. This is where most of the jobs come from.
- Repeat every week. One or two posts a week per group is plenty. Groups remember the business that shows up regularly and is helpful.
Or let us do the work. You just click Post.
Facebook does not allow any software to post in groups for you, and accounts that use tools that do get blocked. So Powers HQ does everything except the click:
- We find your groups, starting with the list above.
- We read every group's rules and note which days it allows business posts.
- We write your answers to each group's join questions and a fresh post for each group, only on days the rules allow.
- We email you the morning a post is ready. You click the link, the group opens with the post typed in, and you click Post. About a minute.
Want more? Starter writes 3 group posts a week and also runs your Google profile, review requests and listings for $49 a month (founding price, locked 12 months, 25 spots left; normally $99). No contract, 30-day full refund. See every plan.
