Jason PowersPowers Advertising is one person and a lot of machinery

You are about to give money to a website you found in an email. It is fair to want to know who is on the other end. It is me, and this is the work behind it.

The short version

1997

Started

Visual Communications degree from the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale, and straight into the work. South Florida native; Knoxville since.

2009–2018

VP of Marketing and Technology, Zoom Tan

Nine years. The chain went from three locations to more than a hundred while I ran both sides of it — national broadcast campaigns on one hand, and on the other the SMS and CRM platforms, three generations of point-of-sale infrastructure, all built in house. I started as the only developer on the platform and finished managing about ten of them, plus IT support and a marketing team.

Along the way

Creative Director and Technology Architect

Enterprise interfaces for Oak Ridge National Laboratory. Production work that carried credits from Lucasfilm, Warner Bros. and Paramount. Campaign work for Toyota and Carnival Cruise Line. E-commerce, land planning, UI and UX.

Now

Powers Advertising

One person, running software I wrote, building websites for local businesses at a price an agency cannot match because an agency has an agency's overhead and I do not.

The obvious question

How is it $995 when everyone else is $5,000?

Because most of what an agency charges you for is not the website.

It is the account manager who relays your message to the designer. It is the discovery call, the proposal, the revision round scheduled for next Thursday, the junior learning on your budget, and the office all of that sits in.

I wrote software that does the assembly. It writes the copy for your trade and your town, makes the artwork, builds the pages and puts it in front of you — usually within the hour, and before you have paid anything. What is left for me is the part that actually needs judgment: whether the thing is any good, and fixing it when it is not.

That is the whole trick. There is no catch and no upsell waiting. The price on the pricing page is the price.

Things people ask me

Is the site made by AI?

A lot of it, yes — the writing, the artwork, the assembly. I am not going to pretend otherwise, because you would work it out and then wonder what else I was not telling you. What matters is whether the result is good, and you get to judge that before you pay. If it is not good, say so and it changes, or walk away.

What if I need something unusual?

Ask. Online booking, a quote calculator, a customer portal, an online shop — I have built all of it. It is not part of the $995 and I will quote it honestly or tell you that you do not need it.

Do you work with businesses outside Knoxville?

Yes, all over the country. The site is written for your town, wherever that is.

Can I just talk to you?

865.347.8374, or jason@powersadvertising.com. You are talking to the person who does the work, which is the other thing an agency cannot sell you.
